Mission Statement: (See Web Site For Updated Information)
CFHI provides future medical professionals global health experiences through service-learning clinical electives in Bolivia, Ecuador, India, Mexico, Nicaragua & South Africa. Participants study and work with local medical professionals at each site. A nonprofit organization, CFHI has sent 2,300 students of the health professions abroad since 1992. Over 700 spots open for applicants in 2006-07. Programs run year-round, 4 ? 8 weeks each. These words from one of our alumna summarize the power of the CFHI experience: ?My clinical experiences?made a previously only vague idea of becoming a doctor something not only attainable, but a true desire of my heart.? Medical Spanish courses available; some Spanish required for more rural sites. Scholarships, fellowships and other funding ideas available. See our website for program details and costs. Must be 21 years or older. CFHI works with over 190 partner physicians throughout the world. These partners receive income, grants for health projects and medical supplies in return for hosting CFHI students from around the world. Over $1 million in medical supplies were sent to these partners as donations in 2005 alone.
